Ο σκοπός του έργου είναι η προστασία των πρανών του ποταμού Άμαθου από τη διάβρωση. Ο ποταμός ρέει μέσα από τον Δήμο Γερμασόγειας στην Κύπρο. Ωστόσο, τα πρανή του ποταμού είναι επιρρεπή στη διάβρωση, η οποία μπορεί να αποτελέσει κίνδυνο ασφαλείας και να βλάψει το περιβάλλον.

Το έργο περιλαμβάνει την κατασκευή μιας σειράς αναλημματικών τοίχων και gabions κατά μήκος των πρανών του ποταμού. Τα gabions είναι γεμάτα με πέτρες και βοηθούν στην πρόληψη της διάβρωσης του εδάφους.

Το έργο ολοκληρώθηκε με επιτυχία και έχει προστατεύσει τα πρανή του ποταμού από τη διάβρωση. Tα gabions έχουν βοηθήσει στη σταθεροποίηση των πρανών και έχουν μειώσει τον κίνδυνο κατολισθήσεων.

Το έργο έχει επίσης θετικό αντίκτυπο στο περιβάλλον. Tα gabions έχουν βοηθήσει στην πρόληψη της διάβρωσης του εδάφους, η οποία μπορεί να οδηγήσει στη ρύπανση του ποταμού. Το έργο έχει επίσης βοηθήσει στη βελτίωση της αισθητικής της περιοχής.

This project was undertaken to protect the banks of the Amathus River from erosion. The river flows through the Germasogeia Municipality in Cyprus. The river banks are prone to erosion, which can pose a safety hazard and damage the environment.
